This project is located in southern Bulgaria, where the region benefits from strong solar resources with over 2,100 hours of sunshine annually. The PV system is coupled with a 7.45 MWh battery energy storage system to balance fluctuations and improve grid stability.
The storage system plays a key role in addressing Bulgaria’s growing share of renewable energy in the grid. It helps shift solar generation into evening peak hours and reduces grid congestion during midday production peaks.
By combining solar with storage, the project not only increases renewable energy utilization but also supports Bulgaria’s efforts to align with EU carbon reduction goals and enhance local energy security.
