400 MWh Independent Energy Storage Project in Chongqing

In September 2024, FutureVolt launched a 400 MWh independent energy storage project in Chongqing, China. Unlike behind-the-meter or factory-based solutions, this project was developed as a standalone energy storage station directly connected to the local grid.

The system consists of 400 MWh lithium battery clusters, advanced PCS units, and a centralized EMS platform, designed to provide frequency regulation, peak shaving, and renewable energy integration for the rapidly growing power demand in Chongqing.

Given the city’s mountainous terrain and limited land availability, the project adopted a modular containerized design, allowing efficient installation and future expansion. After seven months of construction, the station entered commercial operation in April 2025, marking one of the largest independent energy storage facilities in Southwest China.

By supporting grid stability and renewable integration, this project plays a key role in improving regional energy reliability and contributes to China’s dual-carbon goals.
